yacht charter destinations

With Valentines Day fast approaching, we got our heads together to bring you some of our favourite yacht charter destinations for couples from our days as yachties.

Although many of you probably have your romantic charters or boss trips sorted for this year, here are some great ideas for next season or even other times of year when the weather is best in other locations.

Best yacht charter destinations for Valentines Day

Bahamas

The Caribbean season is still very much in full swing in February – sunny and warm but not too humid or extreme heat, making it an ideal location for a romantic getaway.

With a beautiful constellation of 700 islands and cays to explore, couples will be spoilt for choice on where to soak up the sun, sea and sand.

Pink Sand Beach on Harbour Island is a favourite, but if guests are feeling more adventurous then they could do snorkelling or swim alongside the wild pigs.

Chillier evenings make for a cosy night on deck stargazing too.

Maldives

The cyan-blue waters and underwater paradise of the Maldives is famed for being one of the most luxurious yacht charter destinations in the world and is best visited before the monsoon season hits around April.

It’s popular with divers and snorkelers and on shore, there’s plenty to do if you want to escape the privacy of the cabin without feeling overwhelmed by tourists.

Enjoy candlelit dinners under a canopy of stars in one of the many intimate restaurants or take the loved-up pair to the private island of Velaa, which welcomes superyacht-guests with open arms.

A shoreside spa at one of the exclusive resorts is an excellent idea for a day trip too.

Leeward Islands

Encompassing islands including Antigua and St Barts, the collection of Leeward Islands are A-list approved and many exclusive beach clubs cater completely to wealthy superyacht guests.

Being in the direct path of hurricanes, the area is best avoided between July and November but is glorious at this time of year.

The string of islands offer footprint-free tropical beaches and splendid sunsets that can be seen close up or with a helicopter tour over the stunning landscape.

You could also arrange for your guests to gaze into each other’s eyes from the Shirley Heights Lookout about 500ft above sea level in Antigua or swim naked at Saline beach in St Barts – popular with nudists!

Greek Islands

Although you won’t experience the warmest weather at this time of year, February is when you’ll feel like you have the Greek islands all to yourself.

Santorini is particularly mild and one of the driest islands in the collection. It’s great for wine lovers and the charming clifftop villages and pastel-coloured coastline is enchanting.

The excellent nightlife experienced on islands like Mykonos will feel more subdued at this time of year, but if you have younger couple guests looking for a party vibe, they can pair it perfectly with some culture as February is carnival time – where locals celebrate Lent.

Not far from the shoreline, there are plenty of spots to soak up the ancient history of Greece too, making for an activity-filled excursion.

Antarctica

Why not offer your guests a different type of yacht charter destination for Valentines Day? Swap the sun, sea and sand for the ice-cold snow caps of Antarctica.

Perfect for explorer yachts, a wildlife-watching voyage giving guests a glimpse of mostly untouched and unique scenery like no other place in the world.

As one of the most breath-taking locations, it’s sure to blow the mind of anyone, particularly when they have the ultimate luxury of a superyacht to shelter from the elements in.

Romantic yacht spots for other times of the year

Seychelles

Superyacht couples will definitely want to avoid the northwest trade winds between November and March, but if one wants to surprise the other with a pre-planned romantic trip to the Seychelles, then late Spring or early Winter is a good time.

Offering pure luxury, privacy and relaxation, this Indian Ocean yacht charter destination also has a wildly exciting jungle to explore too.

Home to the natural jewels of the rare black pearl, a trip to this region could be made even more memorable with a bespoke, sparkly and very expensive gift.

French Polynesia

This far-flung pacific paradise is probably best visited between June and September when it’s warm and dry but not painfully hot. If you go in February, you might get a bit wet.

Unspoiled and tropical, French Polynesia provides the perfect backdrop for any romantic getaway. And with over 100 often deserted islands to hop between, guests can escape any company if they wish.

Lagoons and waterfalls, coral reefs and coconut palms make it truly idyllic and a visit to the flower-shaped island, Taha’a should definitely make the agenda.

Amalfi coast

With an average temperature of 13 degrees in February, it’s probably warm and dry enough to enjoy some outdoor activity, but the Amalfi coast is best visited in May or September – this is when it’s warm but not too crowded.

The stunning coastline of West Italy is charming, dotted with picturesque fishing villages and elegant ports such as Naples and Positano.

Couple guests can choose to relax in secluded coves or take in the sea air along some beautiful mountain hiking routes. Steeped in culture and offering authentic cuisine, you should make sure a trip to Capri’s arch of love, known as The Faraglioni di Mezzo, is on the list.
