5 cocktails guaranteed to be a big hit on any Yacht charter. Impress your guests with these simple recipes!


Here are 5 of the most popular cocktails to have ‘up your sleeve’ if you are new to the industry! With the good old internet you are probably never far from a sneaky reminder of how to make a cocktail, but why not try and master a few of the classics so you can impress your Chief Stew and guests during a busy event…
  1. Mojito – BBC Good food

Ingredients:

lime wedges

18 fresh mint leaves

2½ tsp granulated sugar

A handful of crushed ice

65ml white rum

A splash of soda water

Fresh mint sprig, to garnish

Method

Place the limes, mint and sugar into a sturdy highball glass and ‘muddle’ or mash with the end of a clean rolling pin, to bruise the mint and release the lime juice.

Add the ice and pour over the rum.

Add soda water to taste and stir well. Garnish with a mint sprig and serve.

 

  1. Cosmopolitan – Jamie Oliver Recipe

Ingredients

1 ½ parts Grey Goose L’orange vodka

½ part Cointreau liqueur

1 parts cranberry juice

¼ part fresh lime juice

Cubed ice

To garnish: orange zest

Method:

Chill your cocktail glass (the easiest way is to fill it with ice)

Put plenty of ice and all of the ingredients into your shaker or stirring glass and shake or stir vigorously for about 20 seconds

Strain the mix into a cocktail glass

Cut a piece of orange peel about the size of your thumb (be careful not to bend it). Hold the piece of orange peel between finger and thumb over the glass, and use a match

to gently warm it for about 20 seconds

Then bend the peel so it releases oil onto the lighted match, igniting a flame that will settle on the surface of the drink

 

  1. Margarita – BBC Good Food

Ingredients:

35ml/1¼fl oz Reposado Tequila

20ml/¾fl oz Cointreau

35ml/1¼fl oz fresh lime juice

handful ice cubes

lime wedge, to garnish

 

Method:

Pour the Tequila, Cointreau and lime juice into a cocktail shaker.

Add a handful of ice cubes and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.

Strain into a Martini glass with half the rim damped with water, then dipped in salt.

Add a lime wedge on the rim by way of garnish.

 

  1. Espresso Martini – Kahlua website

Ingredients:

1 part kahlúa

1 part absolut vodka

1 part espresso

Optional: Add simple syrup to taste

 

Method:

Ok, you’ll need an espresso machine and a shaker for this one. It sounds complicated but it’s just a matter of mixing booze with coffee. Shake the Kahlúa, Absolut Vodka and espresso together with plenty of ice. Strain into a cocktail glass to get rid of all the small ice chips. Tip: Shake for 10 seconds for optimal frothiness.

 

5. Long Island Ice Tea – BBC Good Food

Ingredients:

15ml/½fl oz vodka

15ml/½fl oz gin

15ml/½fl oz light rum

15ml/½fl oz orange liqueur

15ml/½fl oz fresh lemon juice

15ml/½fl oz freshly squeezed orange juice

1 tsp sugar syrup

cola, to top up

lemon wedge, to garnish

 

Method:

Place all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and shake hard.

Strain the cocktail into a highball glass, top up with cola and garnish with a lemon wedge
