superyacht job update

We’ve had an excellent Quarter 3 at Quay Crew, with some fantastic superyacht jobs and amazing candidates coming through across all onboard departments.

Firstly, almost 800 new candidates registered on our database which our consultants are now reviewing and preparing for pre-interview and referencing if suitable.

Of the jobs placed, Deck roles made up 36%, closely followed by Interior roles (35%). Engineering jobs accounted for 20% of our roles and 9% were Captain placements.

Encouragingly, 12% of these placements were of green crew new to the superyacht industry.

The average salaries and most common leave package by department were as follows:

The average Captain salary is reflective of placements onboard smaller sized vessels and it’s great to see that some form of rotation is increasingly being offered for Interior roles.

The majority of our placements overall were offering time for time rotation too.

Almost a quarter of our placements were onboard yachts in the 50-59 range with a fairly even split across the remaining size brackets.

In terms of usage, three in five yachts are private only, with less than one in 10 (9%) being charter and the remainder being both.

It’s been a very busy summer season and as we head into the winter season, we’re already seeing an influx of jobs and candidates looking for their next yacht. Yachting continues to be less and less seasonal from a recruitment perspective and we expect to see more yachts cruising to alternative locations worldwide.
